About the Monrovia Gospel Hall

The Monrovia Gospel Hall is a nondenominational Christian church first started in 1900 by a group of Christians who desired to establish a new assembly according to New Testament principles in the small, but quaint town of Monrovia, California. By way of prayer, obedience and waiting on the Lord, these early Christians were able to see souls saved, baptized and brought into fellowship among the Christians gathered in Monrovia.

Fast forward 125 years, the Monrovia Gospel Hall is made up of a multicultural, inter-generational assembly of Christians whose desire is to be a place of prayer, faith, worship, service and evangelism to the glory of Jesus Christ.

Core Message

Christ the Cornerstone, Christ the Center

Christ the cornerstone. The first and most important stone in a building's foundation, serving as the reference point for all others. It sets the angle and position for the entire structure, and its strength and accuracy ensure the building's integrity. Figuratively, Jesus is called the cornerstone, representing Him as the foundation of faith, the one upon whom the church is built, and the source of guidance and truth for believers.

Christ the center. “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” - Matthew 18:20

The Plymouth Brethren Movement

The Plymouth Brethren (also called the Brethren Movement) is a conservative Christian movement that originated in the early 19th century as part of a broader reaction against what its founders saw as the formalism, hierarchy and doctrinal rigidity of established churches. The movement emphasizes the authority of Scripture, simplicity in worship and the priesthood of all believers.

The group is named after Plymouth, England, where one of its first assemblies was established in the late 1820s.
